For Consumers

How do I verify a product?

There are two ways to verify a product:

  1. QR Code Scanning (Recommended): Simply point your smartphone camera at the QR code on the product label. A notification will appear - tap it to view the verification page.
  2. Manual Entry: Visit verifire.org, enter the company account ID and serial number found on the product label, then click "Verify Product".

The verification page will show you lab test results, product information, and authenticity confirmation.

What does a "Verified" result mean?

A "Verified" result means:

  • The product serial number exists in our system
  • The product is authentic and from a legitimate company
  • Lab test results are available and were uploaded by the company
  • The product information matches the company's records

However, always review the actual lab test results to ensure the product passed safety tests.

How do I read lab test results?

Key things to look for in lab test results:

  • Potency: THC and CBD levels (shown as % or mg/g)
  • Pesticides: Should show "ND" (Not Detected) or "Pass"
  • Heavy Metals: Should show "ND" or "Pass"
  • Microbials: Should show "Pass" with low CFU/g counts
  • Mycotoxins: Should show "ND" or "Pass"

For detailed guidance, see our Consumer Verification Guide.

What if a product shows "NOT FOUND"?

If you see "NOT FOUND", try these steps:

  1. Double-check that you entered the serial number correctly
  2. Make sure you're entering the company ID exactly as shown
  3. Try scanning the QR code instead of manual entry

Warning: If the product still shows "NOT FOUND" after trying the above steps, the product may be counterfeit. Do not consume it and return it to the retailer immediately.

What makes serial numbers unique?

Each serial number includes:

  • Your unique company identifier
  • Batch number
  • Product type code
  • Sequential unit number
  • Cryptographic verification code

This format ensures maximum security and prevents counterfeiting. Each serial number can only be generated once and is permanently linked to your company and batch.

We support all standard Avery label formats:

  • Avery 5160: 2⅝" × 1" (30 per sheet)
  • Avery 5161: 4" × 1" (20 per sheet)
  • Avery 5162: 4" × 1⅓" (14 per sheet)

Technical Questions

Why won't the QR code scan?

Common issues and solutions:

  • Lighting: Ensure good lighting - avoid direct sunlight or shadows
  • Distance: Hold phone 4-8 inches from the QR code
  • Focus: Keep phone steady and let camera focus
  • Damage: Check if QR code is damaged, scratched, or dirty
  • Camera: Clean your camera lens

If QR scanning still doesn't work, use the manual entry method on our homepage.

How secure is the verification system?

Our security features include:

  • Cryptographically unique serial numbers that cannot be duplicated
  • Blockchain-style verification preventing tampering
  • Company authentication preventing fraudulent uploads
  • Encrypted data transmission (SSL/TLS)
  • Audit trails for all verification attempts

How long are verification records stored?

Verification records are stored indefinitely to maintain product traceability and support regulatory compliance. This includes:

  • Product information and batch details
  • Lab test results and PDFs
  • Verification timestamps and locations
  • Audit logs and access records

Companies retain ownership of their data and can export it at any time.

Do I need an internet connection to verify?
